The Department of Science and Technology under the Government of Gujarat has recently forged a strategic alliance with technology giants IBM, Microsoft Corporation MSFT, and industry body NASSCOM. The partnership is cemented through multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and aims to bolster the state's Deep Technology initiatives, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).

Creation of an AI Cluster and Centre of Excellence

At the heart of the collaboration is the focus on the establishment of an AI cluster and an AI Centre of Excellence (CoE). This initiative is specially tailored for the BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance) sector. The new AI CoE will find its home within the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) located in Gandhinagar, setting the stage for innovative solutions and technological advancements in the financial industry.

Microsoft Corporation's Role in the Programme

Microsoft Corporation MSFT, known as a leading figure within the technology sphere, will contribute its vast expertise to the initiative. With its well-established reputation in producing software, devices, and services that are pivotal in various sectors, Microsoft's participation is expected to significantly enhance the collective efforts of the programme. Their history of innovation and leadership, demonstrated through products such as Windows OS, Microsoft Office suite, and their lineup of Surface PCs, ensures an essential foundation for the Centre's ambition.

Fostering Innovation in the BFSI Ecosystem

The overarching goal of the AI cluster and Centre of Excellence is to create an ecosystem that encourages innovation within the BFSi sector. By leveraging the strengths of each signing party, Gujarat endeavours to become a frontrunner in AI readiness and utilization, thereby stimulating economic growth and showcasing the potential of deep technologies in solving real-world problems.
