Three Must-Have Products from CES 2025

Published January 12, 2025

The CES 2025 event has wrapped up, and it's time to reflect on some of the standout products that caught my attention. While many gadgets showcased at the event may end up being just concepts or disappear shortly after, I found a few that truly impressed me and that I would eagerly purchase.

Mcon MagSafe Phone Controller

The Mcon from King is a fascinating addition to the world of MagSafe accessories, transforming a standard smartphone into a robust portable gaming device. Unlike typical accessories such as battery packs or kickstands, the Mcon provides a flick-out controller pad that enhances gaming experiences. With smartphones now boasting powerful specs like significant RAM and thermal cooling, utilizing them for gaming seems essential.

The design is simple: attach your phone to the magnetic base pad, flick it open, and reveal a comprehensive controller setup featuring responsive, drift-resistant sticks. Connectivity options include USB-C or Bluetooth, ensuring seamless use. The Mcon is currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter, priced between $99 and $150.

Kirin Electric Salt Spoon

Next up is the innovative Kirin electric salt spoon, which utilizes a mild electric current to enhance the taste of food, making it saltier at adjustable levels. This gadget is particularly useful for those monitoring their sodium intake or looking to reduce calories in their diet.

However, the salt spoon does come with a thicker handle, which holds all the necessary technology, and requires a bit of practice to use effectively. You’ll need to press a sensor while the food is positioned above a current distribution sensor, which might make it tricky for some. Despite this, the potential benefits make it an appealing option for personal use or as a unique gift for someone special.

LG Indoor Gardening Appliance

One of the more understated products I encountered was LG’s indoor gardening appliance, which is a must-have for anyone who enjoys houseplants. This device acts like a lampshade, equipped with adjustable LED lights designed for various plants, including herbs and leafy greens. It can accommodate up to twenty plants at once and features a hidden 1.5-gallon water tank to keep your plants hydrated.

The compact size ensures it fits well into any home or office setting. Plus, being a smart appliance means you can connect it to the LG ThinQ app, allowing you to schedule care routines, adjust lighting, and monitor plant growth, making indoor gardening convenient and enjoyable.
