Broadcom Enhances VMware vDefend: New Tools for Stronger Security
Broadcom Inc. has announced key upgrades to VMware vDefend aimed at bolstering security measures and improving management for users of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
The latest enhancements are designed to aid organizations in executing security planning and assessments more effectively. They also facilitate the lifecycle management of applications and improve scalability in diverse environment setups.
With these updates, companies employing VCF can accelerate their deployment processes while enhancing their security operations. This upgrade enables more efficient management of both critical and non-critical applications.
A notable achievement for VMware vDefend includes receiving an AAA rating for Advanced Threat Prevention in SE Labs’ Advanced Security Test Report. This rating underscores the platform's robust security capabilities.
Furthermore, a study conducted by Forrester Consulting, commissioned by Broadcom, revealed significant benefits for organizations using VMware vDefend. According to the findings, users experienced a 40% reduction in cyber breach risk, a 25% decrease in security operations costs, and successfully avoided a 12% increase in cyber insurance premiums.
Umesh Mahajan, the Vice President and General Manager of the Application Networking and Security Division at Broadcom, stated, “VMware vDefend simplifies the pathway for organizations striving for zero trust and private cloud security. It does this by eliminating complexity and delivering a comprehensive lateral security implementation.”
He further elaborated that the recent innovations in vDefend contribute to efficiencies by providing real-time security assessments, introducing a next-generation security services platform to simplify operations, and implementing micro-segmentation as code to enhance security operations.
In a separate announcement, Broadcom also revealed the expansion of its 200G/lane DSP PHY portfolio with the addition of the Sian3 and Sian2M.
