IBM, Microsoft, NASSCOM Partner with Gujarat Government to Boost Deeptech Initiative

Published June 30, 2024

The Department of Science and Technology of the Government of Gujarat has recently enhanced its commitment to advanced technology development by securing agreements with prominent industry giants. In a seminal move, the state department has inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with IBM, Microsoft Corporation with the stock ticker MSFT, and NASSCOM. These partnerships aim to create a robust AI ecosystem in the region, focusing on the burgeoning BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance) sector. A pivotal element of this initiative is the establishment of an AI cluster, alongside an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City), located in Gandhinagar.

The Synergy between Technology and Finance

The collaboration is set to bring together the expertise of global technological leaders such as IBM and Microsoft with the nuanced insights of NASSCOM, India’s industry association for the IT-BPM sector. By pooling their resources and knowledge, the MoUs will facilitate an environment conducive to innovation and development in deep technologies specifically tailored for the BFSI sector. It simultaneously aims to attract investment and foster talent that can propel Gujarat into a leading position in the tech-driven financial domain.
