Trump Takes His Time with Gaza Plan Implementation

Published February 7, 2025

On February 8, in Washington, US President Donald Trump addressed reporters regarding his plans for Gaza. He stated that he is not in a hurry to implement these plans.

"No rush to do anything," he mentioned as he began a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba at the White House.

Trump expressed that the Gaza plan has been "very well received," but emphasized that there have not been any further discussions or actions taken since its initial reception.

He elaborated on his perspective, describing the situation as a real estate transaction: "The US would view it as a real estate transaction. I think the fact that we're there, that we have an investment there, I think would go a long way to creating peace." This statement highlights his belief in the potential for investment to facilitate peace in the region.

Regarding security matters, Trump noted that Israel would be responsible for ensuring safety in Gaza. He has previously indicated the US's willingness to consider long-term ownership of the Gaza Strip. This idea could be oriented toward developing the area to promote peace in the Middle East.

In addition, Trump suggested the potential relocation of Palestinians to other countries in the region as part of his plan. He even stated that the US could send troops to Gaza if the situation necessitated such action.

While Trump has articulated his strategies, they have not been without opposition. Arab nations, along with Iran and several Western countries, have voiced their disagreements with his proposals. In a recent comment, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged Trump's ideas but pointed out that key neighboring countries, Egypt and Jordan, have decided not to cooperate with the plan.

The situation surrounding Gaza continues to evolve, with Trump expressing confidence in the reception of his plans while also maintaining a cautious approach in their execution.
