Danantara's Role in Managing BUMN Dividends
Jakarta - The Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, has revealed that the calculations for the distribution of dividends managed by the Investment Management Agency, Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara), are still underway.
"Not yet, it's still in the calculation stage," said Kartika, popularly known as Tiko, during his remarks in Jakarta on Monday, February 25, 2025.
According to Article 3F of the Draft Law on BUMN, Danantara has the primary responsibility for managing dividends from BUMN. This responsibility includes handling dividends from investment holdings, operational holdings, and direct dividends generated by BUMN.
Furthermore, Danantara is authorized to approve the increase or decrease of capital participation in BUMN, which originates from the management of these dividends. This agency also collaborates with related ministers to form investment and operational holdings, as well as to approve proposals for asset or receivable elimination submitted by investment or operational holdings.
On the matter of initial capital, Article 3G states that state capital participation can come from cash funds, state-owned assets, or shares owned by the state in BUMN.
The initial capital of Danantara is set at a minimum of IDR 1,000 trillion, with the possibility of increases through government capital participation or other sources.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto expressed his hope that the launch of Danantara would encourage more Indonesian BUMN to make it onto the Fortune Global 500 list, published by Fortune magazine from the United States.
